Black Undefined.

Challenging the definition of “blackness” through the excitement and amazement of traveling the world, All the World Over is a travel documentary series like no other, exploring the vast array of black music, food, literature, history and art throughout the seven continents.

From dancing in the streets of the UK’s 40-year old Notting Hill Carnival celebrating Black British culture, to tasting Holland’s Afro-Dutch cuisine blending Caribbean spices with Dutch cheeses and sauces, to meeting Afro-Asians who have lived for five centuries in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, descendants of African slaves brought to South Asia in the16th century, the series reveals how all of these people of different nationalities, different foods, music, art, languages and literatures have one surprising and yet obvious thing in common - they hail from the vast and historic African Diaspora.

First Stop: London!

Beginning in London, the All the World Over pilot explores Black British culture.

The All the World Over host traverses the city, engaging authors, musicians, chefs, historians and professionals at their favorite restaurants, cafés, landmarks, and music venues exemplifying the myriad of Black British cultures hailing from countries in the Caribbean and Africa as well as the political term BME (black and minority ethnic) people of Great Britain.

What is Black?

Mainstream American Hip-Hop music, along with other popular media, has perpetuated sagging jeans, misogynistic attitudes, poor English and the embrace of criminal culture as the definition of what it means to be black. In the US terms and phrases like, “oreo” and “you know how we do” volley between black people schizophrenically, both alienating and binding them to a limited identity.

But, is what Americans consider “black,” accurate? Is there more to “being black”? Is there truly a singular culture, a singular experience? Where do the similarities end and the dissimilarities begin? Can a claim be laid to the idea of one black culture or community? Stochastic Artworks travels across the globe documenting how black people throughout the world answer these questions.

One Skin. 7 Continents. Countless Cultures.

All the World is a travel documentary series exploring the vast array of Black music, food, literature and art throughout the seven continents.

Through fantastic sights, delicious tastes, and exhuberant sounds All the World Over celebrates the diveristy of African Disapora and debunks notions of race.
